Sound Workshop

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

This workshop is primarily designed for artists working with sound, though participation is open to all interested individuals. Structured in three distinct parts—an introductory lecture, a series of individual consultations, and a concluding colloquium—the workshop aims not to instruct artists on the nature of sound but rather to offer them the perspective of a musician who engages with sound in a particular manner. The goal is to foster a creative and constructive influence on each participant's artistic journey.

01 – INTRODUCTURY LECTURE

The workshop begins with a lecture introducing key concepts that, in my view, delineate essential distinctions between sound art and music. Through examples of notable sound artists and a brief exploration of the evolution of avant-garde Western Art Music, I will illustrate the sometimes subtle boundary between sound artists and composers.

02 –INDIVIDUAL CONSULTATIONS

The second segment comprises one-on-one sessions tailored to each participant’s interests and artistic needs. These sessions, scheduled according to each artist's preference, will provide an opportunity to discuss and review their work. My intent here is to share insights drawn from my own experience as a musician, reflecting on the applications and contexts of sound in various creative frameworks.

03 – CONCLUDING COLLOQUIUM

In the final component, I will moderate a group colloquium, facilitating an open dialogue among all participants. This forum will allow us to discuss their experiences and insights gained from working with sound, linking back to themes from the initial lecture. The aim is to collectively deepen our understanding and draw meaningful conclusions about the role of sound in artistic expression.
